Downhill skiers...try cross-country skiing
One day a week, why not strap on your cross-country skis for a stroll through the forest and try your hand at Nordic skiing ? Why not takethe whole family for a hike on groomed itineraries, in the heart of nature, towards the refuge de la Blanche or the refuge Agnel, where you can have a (good) lunch in a warm atmosphere, or towards the Col d'Izoard, with a great show guaranteed at the Casse Déserte (refuge Napoléon), (see the Arvieux cross-country skiing map), or simply on the loops at the bottom of the valley that will enable you to achieve a good technique, possibly with qualified instructors?
The largest Nordic ski area in the Hautes Alpes, Queyras offers cross-country skiing in its 4 valleys, three of which are linked by groomed trails:
- Vallée des Aigues (Molines-en-Queyras, Saint-Véran)
- Vallée du Haut-Guil (Château-Ville-Vieille, Aiguilles-en-Queyras, Abriès, Ristolas)
- Cristillan Valley (Ceillac)
- Izoard Valley (Arvieux)
